HARDSHIP TO THE STARS

HARDSHIP TO THE STARS

The band teacher wrote this song for Michael. The teacher just got through presenting trophies to the two seniors in the band. He then said this was difficult for him to do, but the next one would be even more difficult. He started to get every enotional and stood for a few moments trying to collect himself. Then he said that the band had lost a student this year to a tragic accident. He said he had children and could understand how painful it must have been for Michael's parents. The next part is on the tape He said he believed Michael was on a great adventure.

The first part of the song depicts sadness and loneliness. When the song speeds up it is supposed to depict Michael learning things and on a great adventure The song's name is latin for "Hardship to the Stars." The solos in the song are all played by Michael's classmates (which is pretty good, considering all the high school students played in the band also and they were only eighth graders.) The flute solo was played by Micaela Stanley, the girl who Michael always liked (and who, we've been told, always had a crush on Michael.)

Please keep in mind that this is a recording off of our digital camera and that the band is young, but we still think the song was wonderful. There was a standing ovation for it at the end. When we went up to thank the band teacher, Brad Flinders, he still had tears in his eyes (as did we.)

One other neat thing about the band leader: He left Michael's name on the program as one of the trombone players throughout the year. It was on the program the night this song was played, so he stayed a member the whole year even though he wasn't there.

Enjoy. We love you.

Oh, Jay and Char that brings tears to my eyes as well. Ya know Michael probably had no idea that he had such an effect on the people around him. Every life has meaning and purpose. It really is true that no man is an island. That band teacher must be a wonderful person. I am so impressed with all the special things he has done for you in honor of Michael.
We Love You!!!!
