We're doing great!

Hi everyone or should I say Hi Karen! We all need to do better about reading, commenting, and adding to this family blog. It could be lots of fun if we would all do a better job. I know I have no right to criticize since I just wrote for my first time this month but I'm turning over a new leaf. Let's all try to.
Well Nikki and Hunter did really well at their Destination Imagination competition on Saturday, April 12th. Both of their groups took first place as well as every 6th grade group from Overlake Elementary and all the 5th grade groups but one which took 2nd place. They were very excited!
Mitch and Karl ran in their first road race here in Tooele early Sat. morning. They did the 5K for Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault Victims Advocacy fund raiser. They had fun, were sore for several days, but are already talking of running the race here on July 4th. Thank you Char and Jay and your family for coming and running with them. They loved that! I didn't know when Nikki's competition began when it was time to register for the race and the boys really wanted to do it so they called and asked Char if her family would come and race with them. Char, of course, said yes. Nikki's competition wasn't until 11:40 so I was able to cheer the 2 boys and all the Griffin's in at the finish line. If I remember correctly Kimi and Jason came in 92 and 93, Jay came in 95, Char and Ryan came in 126 and 127 while Mitch and Karl came in 131 and 132 out of 240+ racers. Not too bad. I was also able to stick around for some of the raffle for prices but had to leave before they called Mitch's number and he won a $25 gift certificate to Steadman's. He always wins something in raffle drawings! I don't know how he does it.
I took Kimi with me to West Valley to see Nikki in her competition and Char, Jay, and 4 boys came to our house and hung out. After Nikki's competition we all met at the North Visitor Center on Temple Square so Jay and Char could go to the temple while I took the 6 kids to the movie. The kids and I saw "Emma My Story." It is a really good movie you should go and see it. What a strong lady she was. After the movie we headed back to temple square to meet up with Char and Jay. They weren't quite done yet so the kids decided to go to the visitor center and look around. We ended up in one of the theatres watching a movie called "Book of Mormon Answers". Char and Jay came in about half way through. The movie ended and you could just feel the spirit in the room. The lights hadn't come on yet, it was quiet, and we were the only ones in the theatre, it was a special time and none of us wanted to leave. We ended up starting and watching 2 more movies that the kids chose. The spirit was very strong! We left the theatre and walked around looking with the kids. There was only 15 minutes left until closing. The kids didn't want to leave. Needless to say we closed the place up. It was a very spiritual day that just happened accidentally. I think those are the very best kind. I hope we can have more days like it in the very near future. Thanks Jay and Char and family for having such a great time with us. I love spending time with family and love that my kids do too.
Mitch is home sick today, his asthma is really acting up. He and of course I were up most of the night last night dealing with his inability to breathe. We did his inhaler, I patted and rubbed his chest trying to get him to relax, we ran a nebulizer treatment, put him in a steamy bathroom, and multiple other remedies. He was finally able to breathe a little easier about the time I had decided a hospital trip was going to be necessary. Just a little disconcerting. He still sounds bad this morning but we are able to stay on top of it with his inhaler and nebulizer treatments. Looks like Fall and Spring are going to be tough for him. The weather changes and the pollens that pollute the air at those seasons seem to wreck the most havoc on him. We'll see how he does today. It's core testing time and he can't miss much more school.
Janell, got the message about Katie and Drew's wedding sounds great. Let me know if I can do anything to help. I'd be glad to help where ever or how ever you need me to.
Dad, how is mom? Is she getting up and around a little more yet? Has she scheduled her next surgery yet? Keep us posted and let us know.
Well that's all I've got for now. Sure would like to know what's up with everyone else. Everyone write.

Love ya all!
