I have to tell you all that this is the VERY first time I have even visited the family blog! I'm really an illiterate when it comes to the computer so I'm really afraid to do anything new, to me, on one unless there's someone around to hold my hand, usually Karen and Mike! I've learned a ton about the computer from them but they probably moan everytime they see it's me on the phone wondering what I could possibly need help with on the computer NOW! Good thing there was some exciting Burgon news to entice me to get off my butt and get on the sight despite my fear.
See what you did Katie and you thought you'd only gotted engaged. By the way do we all have to wait until the big wedding day to meet Drew or will we get to meet him before that. Does he know all about your wacky Aunts and Uncles or are you waiting to surprise him? I'm really proud of you Katie and can hardly wait to meet your true love.
Well we don't have much news here at the Butler front but I'll fill you in on the going ons.
First of all, for all of you who have celebrated B-days in the last month or have ones coming up tomorrow and are feeling OLD, which some of you are getting up there, just remember Ken turned the BIG, HUMONGOUS 50 TODAY!!!! Now that's OLD!(lol)
The great thing to remember every year is that he'll always be older than all of you! ha, ha! That should make ya'all feel much better. He worked 6pm to 6:30 am the last 2 nights and had to go back in tonight and works again tomorrow night so we will be celebrating later this week. He said he was too tired to do it today but I just think he's trying to put off turning 50 officially as long as possible. (lol). The kids did fix a delicious brunch this afternoon and made a really cute sign and hung it on the garage for him to see when he came home this am. He loved it!
The kids stay very busy with homework, after school clubs (Nikki), band(Nikki & Mitch), piano lessons (all 3), guitar lessons (Mitch), drum lessons (Karl), dance class (Nikki), horse riding lessons (Karl), scouts (Mitch & Karl), and Young Women's that I can hardly keep up with it all. I feel I'm mostly just a cab driver now. Not that all you other mom's don't feel the same!
Nikki is participating in a Destination Imagination competition (with Hunter too) this coming Saturday. She leaves on a bus at 6:30am and isn't to return until 5:30pm. It's in Salt Lake and at least I'll be going to watch her. Ken once again will have to work (6am to 6:30pm) and the boys really want to race in a 5K race being held here in Tooele that morning. Char and Jay said they'd bring their family out and run it with the boys but we're still deciding if they can. I think they should support their sister since she's always there to support their activities but they don't seem to agree with me. We'll see. Mitch is working really hard towards his Eagle scout award and should have it next year or the year after. He has an awesome Scout leader. He's about 80+ years old but you wouldn't know it and he loves the boys and spends tons of time with them. Karl is busyily working on his wolf badge so he can complete the requirements before is B-day in June. He didn't have very good leaders there for awhile and we were working on when we got the chance. He'll get it! Can't believe that Nikki goes to young women's now, it just doesn't seem like I've grown older (no comments from the peanut gallery) so how did she?
We went to Moab with Jay and Char and their family in March and had such a BLAST that we ended up going back over Easter weekend. We went to Ken's Lake (no Ken doesn't own it) just outside of Moab. We really just stayed mostly in the campground and fishing at the lake but we had tons of fun. It was much colder than it had been 2-3 weeks earlier when there with the Griffins and we didn't take extra blankets or really warm sleeping bags (didn't think we'd need them). WE FROZE!! Nikki, Karl, and I ended up sleeping in the jeep while Ken and Mitch piled almost everything we had for warmth on them and slept in the tent. Despite the cold we had great times and made some great family memories to look back on, which was what it was all about to begin with.
Hey, when is the next sister luncheon? We just started them back up again we can't falter already! Janell I thought you were going to take us all to that waffle house or whatever on 21st South? Did I remember wrong? Whatever lets get it going again. We're all along the Wasatch front again lets get together!
Well I've been writing forever and quite an epistle too so I better go. Love everyone!
